Ekiti Chief Imam Commends Oyebanji for Inclusive Governance, Gender Equality

The Chief Imam of Ekiti State and President of the League of Imams and Alfas in the South-West, Edo, and Delta states, Alhaji Kewulere Bello, has commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for promoting inclusive governance and advancing gender equality in the state.
Bello described Oyebanji’s administration as a model of humility and collective leadership, attributing its success to the governor’s deliberate effort to accommodate diverse interests in governance.
The cleric spoke on Friday during a special Juma’at thanksgiving service at the Central Mosque, Oja Oba, Ado Ekiti, held to mark the third anniversary of the Oyebanji administration.
Bello praised the governor for his commitment to equity and development, saying his inclusive approach had strengthened unity and boosted citizens’ confidence in government.
“I appreciate Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy for their humility. Many governors have ruled Ekiti, but there are lessons to learn from this one. He has gained experience from his predecessors and is not a leader who listens to sycophants. He does not talk down to people,” the Chief Imam said.
He highlighted Oyebanji’s achievements in infrastructure development, prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities, as well as social welfare interventions for the sick and needy.
“He is indeed a trustworthy and reliable leader. No wonder all four former governors of the state openly support him. When a leader is humble and accommodating like Oyebanji, governance becomes easier, and people willingly support you. Arrogance takes a leader nowhere,” Bello added.
The religious leader urged the governor to remain focused and steadfast in service, while calling on residents to continue praying for and supporting the administration.
He also reminded politicians to stay humble and accountable, warning that everyone would be judged by their actions.
In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the Muslim Ummah for their prayers and support, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance.
He praised the religious harmony among Christians and Muslims in Ekiti, describing it as a pillar of the state’s peace and development.
“I urge all of us in politics not to be vindictive. We cannot victimise anyone for their political choices. Let us extend hands of love and fellowship to those who don’t support us; they may join us tomorrow,” Oyebanji said.
He assured the congregation that his government would sustain the peace, unity, and progress recorded so far.
The event was attended by Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, Speaker of the House of Assembly Adeoye Aribasoye, Secretary to the State Government Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, commissioners, special advisers, and other top government officials.
