I’m Committed to Soldiers’ Welfare, Declares Army Chief, Oluyede

 

 

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing the welfare of officers and soldiers nationwide.

 

He emphasized that the well-being of troops and their families remains a paramount concern under his stewardship.

 

Oluyede conveyed this assurance while addressing journalists at the conclusion of his three-day operational visit to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army 6 Division in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

 

During the visit, the Army Chief inaugurated several projects and stated that the primary aim of the tour was to evaluate the operational readiness of formations under the division, as well as to engage with troops and key stakeholders in the Niger Delta region.

 

He elaborated that the visit afforded him the opportunity to witness firsthand the challenges faced by soldiers in the execution of their duties.

 

He asserted that ensuring their welfare is crucial for maintaining high morale and effectiveness in military operations.

 

“I am particularly keen to assess my soldiers’ welfare because I am deeply committed to the well-being of my soldiers and their families.

 

“With this in mind, I am well aware of the challenges, and I intend to address them within the scope of resources available to me as the leader of the army. I assure my soldiers that I will exert my utmost efforts, with the support of the Federal Government, to enhance their lives. That is why I am here, and I believe my objectives have been fulfilled,” he stated.

 

During the tour, the Chief of Army Staff inaugurated a series of projects, including the newly constructed 6 Division Administration Building, a Filling Station, the Headquarters 6 Division Extension, Python Harmony House, the 6 Division Guard Room, two blocks of Corporal Below Quarters, renovated 10-Family Corporal Below Quarters, and the remodeled 29 Battalion Quarter Guard.

 

He also unveiled additional facilities at the Elele Barracks.

 

Oluyede affirmed that the Nigerian Army would persist in consolidating its operational successes.
