Vigilantes Attack, Strip Female Corps Member in Anambra

Few days after the privates of Comfort Emmanson were displayed on Ibom Air Imbroglio, a disturbing video circulating on social media has sparked outrage after showing members of a local vigilante group, identified as Operation Udo-ga-achi, also known as Agunechemba, storming a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) lodge in Anambra State and violently assaulting occupants.

The footage, which surfaced on Tuesday, captured the vigilantes with rifles and machetes manhandling several corps members, with one female member stripped and beaten in the process. Shouts and pleas for mercy could be heard as the armed men unleashed violence on the young Nigerians.

Eyewitnesses said the vigilantes accused the corps members of “harbouring criminals” in their lodge, a claim that remains unverified.

Residents of the community expressed shock at the brutality, calling it an abuse of power and a violation of human dignity.

The incident has triggered outrage across the country, with many Nigerians demanding swift action from security agencies and the Anambra State Government.

Civil rights activists have also called on the National Youth Service Corps to ensure justice for the victims, stressing that corps members must be protected while serving in different parts of the country.

As of press time, neither the Anambra State Police Command nor the NYSC Directorate had issued an official statement on the assault.
