APC Demands Answers Over Adeleke’s Two-Week Absence

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed concern over the prolonged absence of Governor Ademola Adeleke from the state, alleging that he has been missing from official duties for over two weeks without any explanation.
In a statement released on Monday, the APC’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, described the governor’s absence as troubling and unacceptable, especially at a time when the state is grappling with pressing governance and developmental challenges.
The party insisted that the people of Osun State deserve full disclosure regarding their governor’s whereabouts.
“It is worrisome that Governor Adeleke has abandoned the state without any official communication to the people. Osun citizens are being kept in the dark about who is currently in charge of governance,” the statement read.
The APC further recalled that this was not the first time Governor Adeleke had disappeared from the public eye without official notice. According to the party, he had previously left the state for extended periods shortly after assuming office, reportedly for medical reasons.
Governor Adeleke’s absence comes amid growing speculation about a potential defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. His conspicuous absence from a recent PDP South-West zonal caucus meeting in Ibadan has further fuelled rumours. However, the governor has publicly denied any intention to switch parties, affirming his continued loyalty to the PDP.
Meanwhile, several APC stakeholders have expressed resistance to any backdoor attempt to admit Adeleke into the party. They have urged him to seek consultation with founding members of the party in the state, including former governor Chief Bisi Akande and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola.
