Otuaro Lauds Tinubu for Endorsing PAP’s Peacebuilding Efforts in the Niger Delta

Dr. Dennis Otuaro, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his substantial support of the programme’s peacebuilding initiatives in the Niger Delta.

Otuaro conveyed his appreciation during his address at the inauguration of the second batch of the Leadership, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Media Training, organized by PAP in partnership with the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja.

The initial session of the three-day workshop was held from July 16 to July 18 at the same location.

In a statement endorsed by his Special Assistant on Media, Igoniko Oduma, Otuaro attributed Tinubu’s steadfast support for the programme’s peacebuilding efforts to the president’s unwavering commitment to enduring peace, stability, and progress in the region and Nigeria as a whole.

Otuaro emphasized that the President’s unwavering support for PAP is driven by his aspiration for a brighter and more secure future for the people of the Niger Delta, stating, “A promising future for our region must be ensured today through a deliberate peace process robustly supported by the President.”

Addressing the participants, he underscored their pivotal role as partners in fostering peace and stability in the region, highlighting that the workshop aims to enhance their leadership and mediation skills as peace ambassadors of the programme.

During the opening of the workshop, Otuaro remarked, “I am deeply grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his faith in the peacebuilding initiative spearheaded by PAP within our communities in the Niger Delta.

“Mr. President’s support has been immense, reflecting his profound dedication to peace, stability, and security, all of which are essential for the accelerated development and socio-economic progress of our region.

“Hence, I urge the people of the Niger Delta and all stakeholders to extend their gratitude to Mr. President for his extraordinary support of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and the peace process that my leadership is advancing in our region.

“As stakeholders of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, you (the participants) are esteemed ambassadors in the peacebuilding endeavor within our region, and I implore you to recognize our collective responsibility to support Mr. President by diligently working towards sustainable peace in and around our communities.”

He further extended his heartfelt thanks to the Office of the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for his “unwavering efforts in providing invaluable inputs and interventions in the execution of the programme’s objectives.”

He reassured the participants and other stakeholders in the Niger Delta of his commitment to inclusivity, announcing ongoing plans to empower the region’s women, acknowledging that they too have been affected by the struggle.

The PAP leader thus urged the participants to disregard distractions and actively engage in the training to glean essential insights that would aid them in their roles as peace ambassadors.
