First Class Okun Royal Father Kidnapped from Palace by Gunmen

In a deeply troubling development, His Royal Highness Oba J.D. Ogunyanda Ilufemiloye, the traditional ruler of Okoloke in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, has been abducted by unknown gunmen.

The monarch was reportedly kidnapped in the early hours of Thursday from his palace in Okoloke.

The circumstances surrounding the abduction remain unclear, but local sources confirm that heavily armed men stormed the royal premises and took the Oba to an undisclosed location.

The incident has thrown the Okun-speaking communities of Kogi West into a state of shock and mourning, with residents calling on the state government and security agencies to act swiftly and decisively.

“This is not just an attack on one man it is an assault on our heritage and peace. We demand urgent action to secure the safe return of our king,” a community youth leader in Okoloke said.

So far, there has been no official statement from the Kogi State Police Command or the state government.

However, concerned citizens are urging security operatives to intensify surveillance and rescue operations, especially given the increasing spate of kidnappings in the region.

Okoloke is one of several communities in Kogi State’s Yagba West LGA that have enjoyed relative peace in recent years.

The abduction of the Oba marks a disturbing escalation in the wave of insecurity affecting parts of North Central Nigeria.

The people of Okunland and Kogi West at large are calling for solidarity and prayers as they await further developments.
