Former Plateau Deputy Governor, Sonni Tyoden, Passes Away at 74

 

Sonni Tyoden, the immediate past deputy governor of Plateau State has died after a brief illness. He was 74 years old.

 

The news of Tyoden’s demise was confirmed by Simon Lalong, the immediate past governor of Plateau State, who visited the residence of the deceased to condole with the family.

 

Lalong described Tyoden as a trusted political ally, confidant, teacher, and mentor, who brought significant stability, wisdom, and experience to their government during their eight-year tenure.

 

Tyoden was a renowned professor of political science and a former vice-chancellor of the University of Jos. He served as deputy governor of Plateau State under Lalong’s administration, playing a crucial role in shaping the state’s policies and programs.

 

Lalong praised Tyoden’s contributions to the state, saying, “He worked tirelessly to ensure that we had a successful eight-year tenure.” The former governor’s tribute reflects the high esteem in which Tyoden was held, both as a public servant and as an academic.

 

Tyoden’s passing is a significant loss to the people of Plateau State, who will remember him for his dedication to public service and his commitment to the development of the state. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of leaders and scholars.
