Osun 2026: Governor Adeleke Confident of Re-election
As the political atmosphere in Osun State begins to charge ahead of the August 2026 gubernatorial election, Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed supreme confidence in his chances of returning to the Government House, stating he is “feeling the victory already.”
Speaking at a recent event in the state capital, the Governor dismissed the efforts of the opposition, specifically the All Progressives Congress (APC), to regain control of the state. Adeleke maintained that his administration’s track record in infrastructure, healthcare, and civil service welfare has already secured the trust of the electorate, making his re-election a matter of “when” rather than “if.”
“Our strength is in God and the people whom we have served evidently in the last three years,” the Governor noted in a statement. He went as far as to predict a landslide victory, vowing to defeat his challengers in more than 28 of the 30 local government areas in the state. Adeleke attributed this confidence to the “Imole” (light) projects currently dotting the state, including the ongoing construction of major flyovers and the dualization of township roads.
The Governor’s remarks come amidst heightened political maneuvering, with the APC and its candidate, Oyebamiji, ramping up efforts to challenge the incumbent. However, Adeleke has remained unfazed, warning that any attempt to bypass the will of the people through “anti-democratic means” would fail. He emphasized that the residents of Osun have no desire to return to what he described as the “dark days” of debt and unpaid salaries.
As the August 15, 2026, election date draws closer, the Governor has called on his supporters to remain vigilant and peaceful. He reaffirmed that his focus remains on completing his ambitious “five-point agenda,” promising that the final months of his first term will see even more aggressive development across all sectors of the state’s economy.
