Yobe Government Moves to Curb Immoral Activities Among Youths

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

The Yobe State Government has officially raised concerns regarding the increasing rate of immoral activities among young people in Potiskum town and its surrounding areas.

This alarm was sounded during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday, aimed at finding immediate solutions to the growing social menace.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, acting on the direct instructions of Governor Mai Mala Buni. The session brought together a diverse group of influential figures, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, security agencies, and local government officials, to discuss the moral decline.

During his address, Deputy Governor Gubana emphasized that the state government is deeply troubled by the escalating levels of indecent behavior. He stressed that the situation has reached a point where collective action from all sectors of society is required to safeguard the future of the younger generation.

Hon. Isa Bello Danchua, representing Potiskum East Constituency, briefed journalists after the meeting, stating that the discussions were extensive and productive.

He revealed that the government is prepared to fulfill its obligation by providing the necessary resources to combat these social vices effectively.

The lawmaker further explained that the government intends to empower religious leaders and security agencies to lead the fight against immorality. The goal is to reduce these acts to the barest minimum through strict monitoring and the enforcement of community standards.

Ultimately, the initiative seeks to foster a collaborative environment where positive values are promoted. By working together, community leaders and the government hope to create a healthier social atmosphere that encourages the youth to contribute positively to the development of Potiskum and the state at large.
