Lagos Automates Building Approval Process with New Digital Platform

The Lagos State Government has introduced a fully digital system for processing building approvals, marking a significant shift in the administration of physical planning across the state.

The new platform, known as the Electronic Physical Planning Process System (EPPPS), is designed to manage planning permits, construction approvals, and other related services entirely online.

The development was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on E-GIS and Urban Development, Dr. Olajide Abiodun, in a statement shared via the government’s official communication channels on Monday.

According to the statement, the initiative represents a complete transition from manual and semi-digital processes to a centralized digital system. The government noted that the move is aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and service delivery within the state’s physical planning framework. With the deployment of the EPPPS, applicants can now submit, process, and monitor their building approval requests remotely, eliminating the need for physical visits and reducing delays associated with paperwork.

The system is also expected to streamline operations across relevant agencies and ensure better coordination in the approval process. Officials say the reform aligns with the state government’s broader agenda to leverage technology in governance, enhance ease of doing business, and strengthen regulatory oversight in the construction sector.

The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to modernizing urban development processes, adding that the digital platform will help curb bureaucratic bottlenecks and promote accountability in the issuance of building permits.
