Kaduna Government Advances Access Road to Federal University, Kachia
The Kaduna State Government has significantly accelerated construction work on the vital access road leading to the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia.
This infrastructure project, spearheaded by the Governor Uba Sani administration, is designed to ensure the newly established institution has a reliable and modern transport link to facilitate its full operational takeoff. Recent reports from the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA) indicate that the project has moved past the foundational stages and is now entering the final phases of completion
Engineers on-site have successfully completed the stone base preparation and have transitioned to the application of the prime coat (MC1).
This critical technical step involves applying a liquid bitumen layer to stabilize the base and provide a waterproof seal before the final asphalt laying. The rapid progression of these works reflects the government’s commitment to providing high-quality infrastructure that can withstand the heavy traffic volume expected as student enrollment and faculty activities increase.
The completion of this road is expected to have a transformative impact on Southern Kaduna, turning the Kachia axis into a more accessible hub for education and commerce. Beyond serving the university, the road will benefit the local community by reducing travel times and encouraging the development of housing and support services for the academic population.
By prioritizing this project, the state government is effectively bridging the gap between rural development and federal educational initiatives.
Stakeholders within the university and the surrounding Kachia community have expressed optimism regarding the quality of the work being executed. The road is viewed as a foundational asset that will support the university’s specialized focus on technical and medical sciences. As the state government nears the final asphalt paving stage, the project stands as a testament to the ongoing “Rural Transformation” agenda aimed at driving inclusive growth across all local government areas in Kaduna State.
