Tambuwal Alleges Tinubu Destabilizing Opposition to Create One-Party State

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

Former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has accused President Bola Tinubu of deliberately weakening opposition parties.

Speaking after an African Democratic Congress (ADC) congress in Sokoto, he claimed the presidency is orchestrating internal crises within rival parties to benefit the APC.

Tambuwal alleged that the federal government is meddling in the affairs of the Labour Party (LP) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). He argued that these actions are intended to destabilize any viable competition ahead of future elections.

The former Speaker warned that Nigeria is drifting toward a dangerous one-party state. He compared the current political climate to the era of Sani Abacha, where political entities were pressured to align under a single candidate.

Beyond political interference, Tambuwal criticized the administration’s handling of the nation’s economy and security. He highlighted that rising poverty, unemployment, and persistent insecurity were clear signs of the government’s failure to protect and provide for Nigerians.

Despite these challenges, he positioned the ADC as a credible alternative to the ruling party. He emphasized that his party is committed to a multi-party system and remains focused on rescuing the country from what he termed “misrule.”

He outlined ADC’s priorities, which include economic recovery, job creation, and improvements in education and power supply. He praised party members for their peaceful conduct during the congress and urged them to remain resilient.
