21 Arrested, Illicit Drugs, Locally Made Weapons Seized in NDLEA’s Kano Crackdown

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

The NDLEA recently apprehended 21 suspects in Kano State during a massive crackdown on criminal activities.

This operation targeted key hubs to dismantle local drug networks and restore public order.

A significant cache of illicit substances was recovered, including large quantities of cannabis sativa and psychotropic drugs.

These seizures successfully blocked the distribution of narcotics intended for the local population.

Beyond narcotics, operatives seized several locally made weapons and dangerous implements like machetes. These tools are frequently used by gangs to facilitate violent crimes, including thuggery and phone snatching.

The raids were conducted in partnership with the Kano State Joint Task Force. This inter-agency collaboration allowed security forces to penetrate notorious hotspots and high-risk areas effectively.

The NDLEA Commander emphasized that constant surveillance is being maintained at identified “drug joints.” This sustained pressure ensures that criminal elements have no safe haven within the state.

The Kano State Government continues to provide essential resources and political support for these initiatives. Their involvement highlights a unified front against the social vices driven by substance abuse.

The agency is also prioritizing the rehabilitation of drug users alongside enforcement. By offering counseling and reintegration support, they aim to break the cycle of addiction and recidivism.

Public cooperation remains vital, with the NDLEA urging citizens to report suspicious activities. Community vigilance is considered the final, critical line of defense in maintaining a drug-free society.
