Israel Agrees to US-Iran Ceasefire After Weeks of Conflict
Israel has agreed to a ceasefire arrangement involving the United States and Iran following more than six weeks of conflict in the Middle East, a White House official said on Tuesday.
The agreement is expected to halt hostilities across multiple fronts in the region, although Israeli authorities had yet to issue an official response at the time of reporting.
The development follows weeks of escalating violence, including Israeli military operations in Lebanon, launched in response to rocket attacks by the Iran-backed group Hezbollah. Lebanese authorities said the clashes have resulted in more than 1,500 deaths.
Meanwhile, Pakistan stated that the ceasefire extends beyond Israel and Iran, covering all parties involved in the conflict.
Islamabad said the agreement was reached through its mediation efforts, with commitments from the United States, Iran and their respective allies to implement a cessation of hostilities “everywhere,” including Lebanon.
Further details on the terms and enforcement of the ceasefire were not immediately disclosed.
