Ododo Urges Support for Tinubu, Rules Out Candidate Imposition

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has urged residents of Kogi Local Government Area to remain united in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing the need to sustain ongoing economic reforms and national development efforts.

Ododo made the appeal on Sunday during a visit to Kotokarfe as part of a thank-you tour and inspection of ongoing projects, where he stressed the importance of continuity in leadership at the federal level.

He commended Tinubu’s administration for implementing what he described as bold reforms, noting that recent policy decisions, though challenging, are laying the groundwork for long-term economic stability and growth.

The governor pointed to the ongoing reconstruction of the Lokoja–Abuja road as evidence of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and connectivity, acknowledging the temporary inconvenience faced by commuters as a necessary sacrifice for future benefits.

Ododo also expressed appreciation to the Ohimege Igu of Koto-Karfi, Seidu Akawu Salihu, and residents of the area for their support, particularly in maintaining security along the Lokoja–Koto-Karfi–Abuja corridor. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equitable development across the state’s 21 local government areas.

In his remarks, the monarch praised the governor’s leadership, highlighting progress in security and development, and pledged continued support for government initiatives.

Other officials, including Muhammed Tanko Musa, Chairman of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission, and the Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Abubakar Bashir Gegu, also commended the alignment between the state and federal governments, describing it as key to addressing developmental challenges.

On political developments, Ododo reiterated his commitment to democratic principles, stating that his administration would not impose candidates in future elections. He emphasised that leadership choices must reflect the will of the people.

He added that President Tinubu has consistently advised political leaders to allow transparent processes, urging aspirants to engage directly with constituents and build grassroots support.

The governor assured that all aspirants would be given a fair opportunity, maintaining that political leadership must be earned through public trust, service, and acceptance.
