PDP Gains Momentum in Jigawa as Sule Lamido Pushes for Unity Ahead of 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State is reportedly gaining renewed momentum despite ongoing political realignments across Nigeria, as former Governor Sule Lamido intensifies efforts to strengthen and unify the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Lamido, a prominent figure in the PDP and one of its founding members, has continued to reaffirm his loyalty to the party while urging members to remain committed and focused. He described the PDP as his political home and emphasized the need for internal cohesion rather than defection to rival political platforms.

According to him, the challenges facing the party should be seen as opportunities to rebuild and reposition it for future electoral success. He has also called on aggrieved members to resolve their differences and work together in strengthening the party’s structures at both state and national levels.

The PDP in Jigawa is believed to be maintaining strong grassroots support, with its presence still felt across various levels of governance, including legislative representation.

Party stakeholders in the state say these structures give the PDP a competitive edge as political activities gradually build toward the next election cycle. Lamido’s push for unity comes at a time when Nigeria’s political landscape continues to experience shifting alliances and increasing speculation about possible defections ahead of 2027.

Despite these developments, PDP leaders in Jigawa insist that the party remains stable and focused on rebuilding its base. Political observers note that sustained unity within the PDP in Jigawa could play a significant role in shaping the party’s prospects in the North-West region, especially as preparations for the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum.

The PDP leadership in the state is expected to continue reconciliation efforts and mobilisation as part of broader strategies to consolidate support and remain competitive in future elections.
