Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, the Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG) and son of the esteemed Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has officially declared his intention to run for the Ondo Central Senatorial seat. 

This announcement sets the stage for a significant political contest in the district, which is currently represented by Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a formal statement, Fasoranti expressed his motivations for joining the race, citing a deep-seated commitment to the welfare of his community. He stated, “I, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, hereby formally express my interest in contesting for the position of Senator representing the good people of Ondo Central Senatorial District. This decision is borne out of a deep sense of responsibility, a lifelong commitment to public service and an unwavering belief in the immense potential of our people.”

The medical doctor highlighted his extensive background in the healthcare sector, noting that his thirty-year career has provided him with a unique perspective on leadership. He believes his experience at the State House Medical Centre in Abuja, where he rose to a directorate level before retiring in 2024, has prepared him to handle the complexities of policy and governance effectively.

Fasoranti emphasized that his approach to politics is centered on the needs of the average citizen rather than political elite. He remarked, “I am motivated by the desire to promote people-centric representation and to contribute to the consolidation of the dividends of democracy across our communities. I believe that governance must be practical, inclusive, and impactful, touching lives in tangible ways and creating opportunities for growth and development.”

Beyond his professional achievements, the aspirant pointed to his history of humanitarian work and professional initiatives as evidence of his dedication to building sustainable societal structures.

He noted that these experiences have reinforced his core values of humility and integrity, which he intends to bring into his legislative duties if elected to the Senate.

Outlining his vision for the district, he promised to be a listening leader who converts the needs of his constituents into concrete results. He declared, “As I step forward in this journey, I do so with a clear vision: to provide purposeful representation, to listen to the aspirations of our people, and to translate those aspirations into meaningful action at the national level.”

Finally, Fasoranti called upon the residents of the six local government areas within Ondo Central including Akure South, Akure North, Ondo West, Ondo East, Ifedore, and Idanre to support his ambition. He requested their trust and prayers as he embarks on this campaign to provide what he describes as “purposeful and impactful” leadership for the region.
