Victor Moses to Headline Chelsea’s Historic First Nigeria Visit
Victor Moses to Headline Chelsea’s Historic First Nigeria Visit In a landmark moment for African football fans, Chelsea Football Club has officially announced its first-ever visit to Nigeria.
Scheduled for May 2026, the visit will be headlined by former Blues star and Super Eagles legend Victor Moses, marking a significant milestone in the club’s 121-year history.
The tour is part of Chelsea’s global fan engagement initiative, “The Famous CFC,” which aims to bring the Premier League giants closer to their massive international following. Lagos has been selected as the penultimate stop of the 2025/26 season programme, following successful events in four other global cities.
Victor Moses, who remains a beloved figure at Stamford Bridge and across Nigeria, will serve as the face of the visit. Moses was a pivotal part of Chelsea’s 2016/17 Premier League-winning campaign under Antonio Conte and earned 38 caps for the Super Eagles before his international retirement.
“Chelsea Football Club will be visiting Lagos for the first time in the club’s history,” the club stated in an official release on Thursday. “Former Blue and Super Eagles ace Victor Moses will meet the club’s passionate fans across the event in this vibrant city.”
The visit is designed as a “packed weekend of action” for the Nigerian “Blue Army.” In partnership with MSport, the club’s official betting partner in Africa, the event will feature:
The Famous CFC Watch Party: A massive live screening of a Chelsea fixture, allowing fans to experience the Matchday atmosphere collectively.
Exclusive Q&A with Victor Moses: Fans will have the rare opportunity to hear behind-the-scenes stories from Moses’ career at Stamford Bridge.
Interactive Fan Zones: Including skill challenges and opportunities to win signed merchandise and club memorabilia.
Community Engagement: The initiative focuses on deepening the connection between the club and its loyal Nigerian base.
Nigeria has long been one of Chelsea’s strongest strongholds in Africa, a legacy sparked by the arrival of Celestine Babayaro in 1997 and cemented by icons like John Obi Mikel. While the club has sent legends on solo ambassadorial trips in the past, this official “The Famous CFC” stop represents the most formal and large-scale presence the club has ever established on Nigerian soil.
As the 2025/26 season approaches its climax, the Lagos event promises to be a celebration of football culture, bridging the gap between London and one of the most football-crazy cities on earth.
