Otti Approves NEPAL Energies’ Takeover of Afro Beverages

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has approved the takeover of Afro Beverages by NEPAL Energies Limited in a move aimed at boosting job creation and strengthening the state’s economy.

The approval is part of the state government’s broader effort to revive dormant industries through private sector participation. Afro Beverages, a once-prominent manufacturing company in the state, is expected to return to full operations under the new management structure.

Governor Otti said the decision aligns with his administration’s policy of creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive rather than directly managing enterprises. He noted that the partnership would not only enhance productivity but also increase internally generated revenue and contribute to the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

As part of the arrangement, the Abia State Government will retain a minority stake in Afro Beverages, ensuring continued public interest while allowing NEPAL Energies to take operational control of the company.

The governor expressed confidence in the capacity of NEPAL Energies to reposition the company, citing the firm’s experience and investment potential.

He added that the move would create employment opportunities for residents and stimulate industrial growth, particularly in Aba, the state’s commercial hub.

The takeover is expected to mark a significant step in Abia’s drive to attract private investment, revive its manufacturing sector, and reposition the state as a leading industrial centre in Nigeria.
