Ghanaian Stowaways Narrate Ordeal in Lagos After Failed Europe Trip

A group of Ghanaian stowaways have shared their painful story after being caught in Lagos while trying to reach Europe. They hid inside a cargo ship, believing it was heading to a European country for better opportunities. Instead, the ship docked in Nigeria, and they were discovered by security officials.

The young men said they spent days without food or water during the journey, hiding in dark and dirty spaces.

One of the stowaways explained that they took the risk because life back home had become too difficult. They left Ghana hoping to find work and a brighter future in Europe. But the long trip turned into a nightmare. When the ship arrived in Lagos, they were tired, hungry, and scared. They had no idea they were still in West Africa.

The men were handed over to immigration officials for questioning. They told their stories with sadness, saying they never expected to end up in Nigeria. Many of them had sold everything they owned to pay for the dangerous journey. Now they face an uncertain future as they wait to be sent back home.

This incident highlights the desperate measures some young Africans take to leave their countries. The stowaways said they were warned about the dangers but felt they had no other choice.

Their experience serves as a warning to others thinking of similar risky trips. Officials are now working to return them safely to Ghana.
