NSCDC Boss Distributes Modern Equipment, Warns Personnel Against Indiscipline

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Audi, has rolled out a wide range of advanced operational equipment to state commands, warning officers that acts of indiscipline will attract strict sanctions.

The distribution took place during the corps’ annual strategic meeting at its national headquarters in Abuja, according to a statement issued on Friday by the agency’s spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale.

Addressing senior officers and state commanders, Audi stressed that the corps would no longer tolerate misconduct, noting that severe consequences await any personnel found wanting.

He also expressed gratitude to Bola Tinubu for the renewal of his tenure, describing it as a renewed mandate to strengthen operations and reposition the corps for greater efficiency.

According to the statement, the NSCDC boss urged officers to embrace professionalism and discipline as the organisation enters a new strategic phase. He reiterated management’s commitment to rewarding loyalty, resilience, and dedication to duty, while insisting that conduct must reflect the highest standards.

Audi highlighted achievements recorded under his leadership, particularly in addressing long-standing welfare challenges.

These include the settlement of salary arrears and the clearance of promotion backlogs, measures he said have boosted morale and improved operational performance across formations.

On operations, the Commandant General disclosed that the corps has intensified its crackdown on economic sabotage, revealing that more than 400 illegal refineries have been dismantled, alongside numerous arrests and successful prosecutions of smugglers and illegal miners.

A major highlight of the meeting was the unveiling and distribution of modern tools aimed at enhancing surveillance, rapid response, and personnel safety.

The equipment deployed to each state command includes drones for aerial monitoring, operational backpacks equipped with mini tablets, solar chargers, GPS trackers, and real-time connectivity systems.

Other items distributed include bulletproof vests, helmets, combat boots, night-vision goggles, body cameras, binoculars, uniforms, and tactical accessories designed to strengthen field operations.

Audi emphasised that the equipment must be used strictly for official duties, warning that any misuse would be met with decisive disciplinary action.

“These resources are provided to ensure the smooth delivery of duties. Any officer found circumventing this directive will be dealt with decisively,” he stated.

The NSCDC boss also underscored the importance of continuous training, intelligence sharing, and inter-agency collaboration, pledging stronger partnerships with other security agencies to improve national security outcomes.

The strategic meeting, which brought together commanders from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, also reviewed the corps’ operational blueprint for the year, with a focus on aligning activities with national security priorities and ensuring that the newly deployed equipment translates into measurable results in tackling infrastructure vandalism and economic sabotage.
