Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has reportedly shot down a United States F-35 fifth-generation fighter jet using its newly deployed “Majid” short-range air defence system, also known as the AD-08, according to multiple emerging sources.

The reported incident is said to have occurred over central Iran, though U.S. defence authorities have yet to officially confirm the loss of any F-35 aircraft as of press time.

If verified, the development would mark one of the most significant confrontations between Iran and the United States in recent years, raising concerns over a potential escalation in the region.

The Majid system, described by Iranian military sources as a heat-seeking, short-range air defence platform, is believed to be designed to detect and engage low-observable targets, including stealth aircraft.
