If Atiku Runs With Obi or Amaechi, Tinubu Will Be Gone, Says Dele Momodu

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could lose the 2027 presidential election if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar contests alongside either Peter Obi or Rotimi Amaechi.

Momodu made the remark while speaking on the political permutations ahead of the next general election, arguing that a strong opposition alliance would significantly challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, a political ticket or coalition involving Atiku and a prominent southern figure such as Obi or Amaechi would attract broad national support and could unseat the incumbent president.

He noted that the outcome of the 2023 presidential election was largely influenced by a fragmented opposition, which split votes among multiple candidates and ultimately benefited the APC.

Momodu stressed that if opposition leaders unite ahead of the 2027 polls, the ruling party may find it difficult to retain power. He also warned that Nigeria’s democracy could be weakened if opposition forces fail to build a formidable coalition capable of challenging the government.

The media entrepreneur further urged opposition politicians to prioritise national interest over personal ambition, saying collaboration among major political figures would strengthen democratic competition in the country.

Nigeria’s next general election is scheduled for 2027, when voters will elect the president and other public office holders. Political analysts say discussions about alliances and coalitions among opposition leaders are already shaping early calculations for the race.
