The Niger State Police Command has arrested eight suspects for various crimes, including motorcycle theft and fraud.

According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, these arrests resulted from intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal gangs across the state.

In Mokwa, police arrested Yahaya Alh. Nma and three accomplices, recovering four stolen motorcycles. The suspects confessed to series of thefts in the area, leading to ongoing efforts to track down the remaining gang members.

In Bida, 42-year-old Yahaya Mohamed was apprehended for impersonating a police officer to defraud phone repair shops. He allegedly obtained services worth over ₦32,500 without payment, and authorities are now identifying additional victims of his scheme.

Two suspects from Nasarawa, Abraham Pius Agada and Moses Ochapa, were caught in Suleja for using fake bank alerts. Police recovered a Toyota Corolla and several cans of engine oil they had fraudulently obtained through this method.

Additionally, Abubakar Lawal was arrested in Bida for stealing a goat, which he admitted he intended to sell. This arrest underscores the command’s commitment to tackling both organized crime and petty thefts affecting local residents.

The suspects involved in the fake alert scam have already been charged and remanded in a correctional facility. Investigations continue as police work to dismantle the motorcycle theft syndicate and recover more stolen property.
