China Warns U.S. Military, Says Use of AI Could Create ‘Terminator’-Like World

China has warned that the growing use of artificial intelligence by the United States military could lead to a dangerous future similar to the dystopian scenario portrayed in the film The Terminator, where machines take control of warfare and threaten humanity.

The warning was issued by a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense, who expressed concern that allowing artificial intelligence systems to influence battlefield decisions could weaken human oversight and ethical responsibility in modern warfare.

According to Chinese officials, the deployment of AI-powered technologies in combat operations could result in machines making life-and-death decisions, a development they say could trigger serious global security risks.

Beijing warned that such a trend may push the world toward an uncontrolled technological arms race. China stressed that artificial intelligence must remain under strict human control, arguing that delegating military decisions to algorithms could undermine existing international norms governing armed conflict.

The remarks come amid reports that the United States has been expanding the use of AI tools to support military intelligence, data analysis and battlefield planning. U.S. authorities, however, have maintained that artificial intelligence is used primarily to assist human commanders and that final decisions in military operations remain under human control.

Beijing called on the international community to establish stronger global rules regulating the use of artificial intelligence in warfare.

Chinese officials said a coordinated international approach is necessary to ensure that emerging technologies are used responsibly and do not threaten global stability.
