Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, an ADC gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, has raised the alarm over the targeted destruction of his campaign billboards.
The politician and traditional leader released a formal statement in Ibadan on Tuesday regarding the incident.
The vandalism occurred shortly after Adegoke defected from the ruling PDP to join the ADC. He noted that the attacks on his promotional materials began just hours after his official party switch across the state capital.
Adegoke interpreted these acts as a sign of weakness and intimidation from his political opponents. He argued that those responsible are clearly threatened by his rising popularity ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election.
Despite the provocation, the ADC chieftain maintained a firm stance against the harassment. He declared that he would not be silenced, asserting that destroying property cannot erase his vision from the minds of the electorate.
In his statement, Adegoke categorized the destruction as an illegal attempt to suppress his campaign. He urged his supporters to remain calm and vigilant, stating that such obstacles only strengthen his political resolve.
The aspirant emphasized that politics should be a battle of ideas rather than a display of thuggery. He called on all actors to favor constructive engagement over the physical damage of rival campaign assets.
This development has heightened political tensions as the ADC positions itself as a major challenger. Adegoke’s departure from the PDP has evidently unsettled the state’s existing political hierarchy.
Concluding his remarks, Adegoke reiterated that no amount of sabotage would deter his ambitions. He remains fully committed to his platform, vowing that his campaign will continue with momentum regardless of these hindrances.
