In the early hours of Saturday, suspected armed bandits invaded the Ndeji community within the Lafiagi Emirate of Edu Local Government Area, Kwara State, resulting in the abduction of two individuals.
The victims have been identified as the wife and son of Alhaji Abass, a well-known businessman popularly referred to as Daniyan Saba.
Records indicate that Alhaji Abass, who operates a petrol station, had previously been targeted by kidnappers. Last year, he and his station manager were abducted in the same community, though they were eventually released after a period in captivity and the payment of ransom.
According to local reports from NupekoTv-Lafiagi, the gunmen stormed the area during the early morning hours, sparking panic among the locals before fleeing with the two victims to an undisclosed location.
This latest incident has intensified the sense of fear among residents, as kidnapping and violent raids continue to affect various communities in the Lafiagi Emirate and across the Kwara North Senatorial District.
As of the time of this update, security agencies have not yet issued an official statement regarding the abduction. In the meantime, community members are calling on the government and law enforcement to ramp up security measures in the region and ensure the safe rescue of the victims. Residents have also appealed for urgent intervention to address the escalating insecurity threatening the lives of those in the district.
