Ekiti State Partners with Alumni to Transform School Infrastructure

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

The Ekiti State Government is urging alumni associations to support school infrastructure upgrades to improve learning environments for students.

Education Commissioner Kofoworola Aderiye made this appeal in Igbemo Ekiti during the handover of renovated classrooms, a science lab, and a mini-bus donated by the Igbemo Community Comprehensive High School alumni.

Represented by Permanent Secretary Bayode Ogunmola, Aderiye praised the old students for complementing the state’s efforts to enhance educational facilities.

She noted that these specific donations—the classroom refurbishment, lab upgrade, and vehicle—will significantly boost teaching and learning at the school.

Aderiye encouraged other alumni groups to follow this example, stating the government is open to partnerships with individuals and organizations to advance education.

Information Commissioner Taiwo Olatunbosun, an alumnus himself, described the contribution as a vital way for former students to give back to their alma mater.

He highlighted that alumni play a key role in school growth through fundraising, scholarships, mentorship, and infrastructure development.

Olatunbosun emphasized that ongoing collaboration between alumni, communities, and stakeholders is essential for the state’s educational progress.

He concluded by noting that the donated mini-bus honors the memory of Bakare Akeem Arowolo, the school’s 1988 Senior Prefect.
