Ronaldo Leaves Saudi Arabia for Madrid Amid Rising Middle East Tensions
Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly travelled from Saudi Arabia to Spain as security concerns intensify across the Middle East following recent military action involving the United States and Israel.
The Al-Nassr captain is said to have flown out of Riyadh late at night aboard his Bombardier Global Express 6500 private aircraft, valued at about £61 million ($81 million). British outlet, Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that the 41-year-old made the trip shortly after regional tensions escalated.
Flight monitoring service Flightradar24 confirmed that the jet departed Riyadh at approximately 8:00 pm and landed in Madrid just before 1:00 am. The aircraft reportedly followed a route passing over Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea before arriving in the Spanish capital.
The development comes amid heightened unrest in the region. The United States Embassy in Riyadh was struck by two drones overnight, prompting a response from the Saudi Ministry of Defence, which stated that the incident led to a small fire and caused minor material damage.
In addition, Iranian state media reported that a command and staff facility in Bahrain had been destroyed. The strikes are linked to military operations carried out on February 28, 2026, in Iran.
According to Iranian authorities, several senior figures were killed during the attacks. On March 1, state media in Tehran announced the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, declaring a 40-day mourning period and a seven-day nationwide holiday.
Riyadh, where Ronaldo resides with his partner Georgina Rodríguez and their five children, has experienced fallout connected to the broader conflict. While there has been no official comment from the footballer or his representatives regarding the reason for his trip, his departure has attracted attention given the rapidly evolving situation.
Regional authorities continue to assess the security landscape as diplomatic and military tensions remain elevated.
