Terrorists raid Kwara village near Woro, loot shops

Armed men on motorcycles stormed Gada Oli, near Woro in Kwara State, late Saturday. Residents reported the attackers shot into the air to cause panic before looting phone shops.
Sources say the gunmen entered the community at night, forcing people to flee. Once the area was cleared, they broke into stores and carted away various goods.
No deaths were recorded during this specific raid, according to community members. However, the incident has heightened fears following a February massacre in nearby Woro that left over 100 dead.
The federal government previously launched “Operation Savannah Shield” to stabilize the region. Despite this joint military effort, residents insist that attacks and threats from terrorist networks persist.
In neighboring areas, fear has disrupted daily life and religious activities. Many Muslim worshippers have abandoned night prayers during Ramadan, choosing to stay indoors for safety.
Local authorities have imposed a 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. curfew in Kaiama. Residents are now calling for a permanent security presence to replace temporary interventions and ensure long-term safety.
