The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has assured passengers and stakeholders of the Authority’s swift and coordinated response to the ongoing firefighting efforts at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Addressing members of the media at the airport on Tuesday, Kuku said the incident was promptly brought under control following the immediate activation of FAAN’s emergency response protocols.

She explained that all necessary firefighting and safety procedures were deployed without delay, with trained response teams working diligently to contain the situation and prevent escalation.

“Our primary concern remains the safety and security of passengers, airport personnel, and all stakeholders,” she said. “Immediately the incident was reported, we activated our emergency response plan.

Our firefighting units responded swiftly, and coordinated efforts were put in place to manage the situation effectively.”

Kuku emphasized that FAAN’s emergency systems functioned as designed, helping to minimize disruption to flight operations and airport activities. She added that the Authority is working closely with relevant agencies and airport partners to ensure normalcy is fully restored.

While investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing, the FAAN boss reassured the general public that there was no cause for panic, noting that safety remains the Authority’s top priority.

She further commended the rapid response of the airport’s emergency teams and cooperating agencies, describing their actions as professional and timely.

Passengers and airport users have been advised to stay updated through official FAAN communication channels for any further information.
