The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has foiled two creative smuggling plots at the Kano airport and Seme border.
Operatives arrested Rabi Muhammad, a 35-year-old woman using a fake baby bump made from a pink calabash to hide 3,200 tramadol capsules.
In Kano, 41-year-old Ivorian, Michael Gohouri was intercepted before his flight to Italy. A body scan confirmed he had swallowed drugs, and he subsequently excreted 82 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.49 kilograms.
Gohouri confessed he was promised 5,000 Euros to deliver the shipment to Milan. He had spent weeks traveling through Lagos and Enugu before finally ingesting the pellets in a Kano hotel room.
The agency also arrested real estate CEO Kolapo Oladapo Raji at his Lekki residence. Raji, a suspected drug kingpin, was found with 89.20kg of “Canadian Loud” cannabis shortly after returning from the UK.
Detailing the suspect’s movements, the agency noted, “Michael Gohouri had arrived in Lagos from Milan on 17th January, 2026 and was shuttling from Lagos to Enugu for three weeks. He later travelled to Kano where he stayed for a week before ingesting the cocaine consignment in his hotel room.”
Other nationwide raids yielded 170,900 codeine bottles in Rivers and nearly a ton of cannabis in Bauchi.
NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa commended the officers for staying ahead of the traffickers’ increasingly desperate tactics.
