Troops Neutralize Two Terrorists, Seize Weapons in Ondo

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

The Nigerian Army’s 32 Artillery Brigade has neutralized two suspected terrorists during a tactical operation along the Akunu–Auga Road in Ondo State.

The mission followed a swift mobilization from the Forward Operating Base in Auga on February 14.

Security forces acted on credible intelligence regarding suspicious movements in the area. The Army collaborated with the Amotekun Corps and local vigilantes to intercept the armed suspects and prevent potential attacks on residents.

A fierce gun battle erupted when the troops engaged the criminals. The military’s superior firepower resulted in the death of two terrorists, while their accomplices fled into the forest with various degrees of gunshot wounds.

During the post-battle search, troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 61 rounds of ammunition. Other seized items included mobile phones, torchlights, charms, illicit drugs, and a small amount of cash.

The Brigade reaffirmed its dedication to flushing out criminal elements from the state.

They pledged to maintain frequent patrols and clearance operations to ensure the long-term safety of travelers and local communities.

Describing the outcome of the encounter, the military statement noted, “The ensuing contact with the armed elements led to a firefight, where the troops’ superior firepower resulted in the neutralisation of two of the terrorists, while others fled with suspected gunshot wounds.”
