Police Arrest 26-Year-Old for Importing and Distributing Fake Engine Oil from China

Lagos police arrested a 26-year-old man for distributing fake engine oil nationwide.

Zone 2 Command spokesperson, DSP Gbenga Afolayan, confirmed the arrest this Saturday.

The probe began after a petition to AIG Adegoke Fayoade regarding a faked lubricant brand. The Zonal Anti-Piracy Unit was immediately tasked with tracking the syndicate.

The suspect confessed to importing the counterfeit products from China. He admitted to masterminding a distribution network that supplied the fake oil across Nigeria.

Raids were conducted to recover the illegal stock from multiple regional hubs. DSP Afolayan stated. “During intelligence-led raids, officers recovered 280 gallons of adulterated engine oils from locations in Imo, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, and Ogun.”

The Standard Organisation of Nigeria confirmed the oil failed industrial safety standards. The substandard lubricant poses a major risk of causing permanent engine damage.

AIG Fayoade reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting consumers and legitimate businesses.

He vowed that perpetrators of such economic crimes would be held accountable.

The public is urged to report suspicious products via official police phone lines or social media. Authorities emphasized that vigilance is key to stopping dangerous counterfeit goods.
