Suspect Nabbed as Eight Bodies Found in Forest

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

Police arrested a suspect after finding eight decomposing bodies in a forest near the Uyanga community in Akamkpa.

The gruesome discovery has caused significant fear and tension among local residents.

Security operatives found the remains during a tactical sweep of the area following reports of suspicious activity. Authorities believe the victims were killed elsewhere and their bodies dumped in the remote woods.

Commissioner of Police Gyogon Grimah confirmed the arrest and noted that the suspect is currently being interrogated. He vowed that the command would uncover the motive and the identities of those involved.

Investigations are ongoing to determine if the victims were travelers or abducted locals. Forensic experts are working at the site to identify the remains and establish the official cause of death.

The incident has sparked calls from community leaders for a permanent security post along the highway. They described the killings as a barbaric act that requires an urgent and firm government response.

Police have urged families with missing relatives to come forward for possible identification. Residents are also encouraged to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of other fleeing accomplices.

Increased security patrols have been ordered across the Akamkpa axis to prevent further violence. The police believe they are closing in on a larger syndicate responsible for recent disappearances in the state.
