Dangote Refinery Drops Petrol Price Again to N1,075 Per Litre

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has again reduced its ex-gantry petrol price, cutting the rate by N50 per litre from N1,125 to N1,075, in the latest in a series of price adjustments that have tracked the volatility of global crude oil markets in recent months.

The reduction continues a downward trend that began late in June, when the refinery cut its gantry price from N1,175 to N1,125 per litre, citing easing tensions in the Middle East and a resulting decline in international crude prices.

Petrol prices at the refinery had earlier climbed as high as N1,350 per litre during the height of the US-Iran conflict, before beginning to retreat as diplomatic efforts eased fears of supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz.

Dangote Refinery’s pricing has remained closely tied to international crude benchmarks throughout the year, with the company adjusting rates both upward and downward multiple times since March in response to shifting global oil prices. The refinery has previously stated that its pricing reflects a policy of passing on cost savings to Nigerian consumers whenever global market conditions allow, noting that in 2025 alone it reduced its gantry price on several occasions while raising it only twice.

The latest cut is expected to put pressure on fuel marketers and depot operators to adjust their pump prices accordingly, offering some relief to motorists, transporters and businesses that have grappled with elevated fuel costs in recent weeks. Industry watchers say further reductions could follow if crude oil prices continue to soften, though they caution that pricing remains sensitive to any fresh escalation in global geopolitical tensions.
