El-Rufai Blasts APC Over Recent Harassment

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has accused the APC administration of desperation and targeting political opponents.

Speaking on Arise Television, he argued that “the current administration is desperate and determined to bring down everyone,” claiming the government wrongly assumes all former public officials are corrupt.

This follows an attempted DSS arrest at the Abuja airport on Thursday. El-Rufai views the incident as a calculated move to intimidate him and his former colleagues through state power, asserting that “they think we were thieves like them when in government.”

El-Rufai noted that investigations into his tenure since June 2023 have yielded no evidence of wrongdoing. He dismissed the ongoing court cases against his former aides as frivolous and politically motivated attempts to tarnish his reputation.

He further accused his successor, Uba Sani, of facilitating federal persecution against him. El-Rufai challenged any citizen to provide proof of bribery during his entire career in public service, spanning from 1999 to his time as governor.

The former governor maintains that the government’s hostile stance is a reaction to those not aligned with its interests. He continues to maintain his innocence, insisting that the administration’s tactics are a sign of weakness rather than accountability.
