Nigerian Soldiers Dismantle Terrorist Hideout in Kogi Raid

Troops of the 12 Brigade, under “Operation IGBO IDANU I,” successfully cleared a major terrorist camp in Kogi State. Led by Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, the mission targeted a notorious network linked to extremist leaders Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu.

Soldiers navigated dense forests and marshy terrains, advancing on foot to maintain tactical surprise. Despite riverine obstacles and difficult conditions, the troops achieved total dominance over the insurgent enclave.

The terrorists fled upon sighting the advancing forces, but a thorough search yielded a massive cache of ammunition. Recovered items included high-velocity grenades and eight boxes of 7.62mm rounds, severely crippling the group’s logistics.

Following the seizure, the Army systematically destroyed the camp and set it ablaze. This measure was taken to ensure the retreating insurgents could not reoccupy the site or use it for future operations.

Military authorities have intensified patrols in the region to track fleeing elements and prevent them from regrouping.

The raid is part of a larger strategy to restore peace and neutralize criminal hideouts in the area.

In an official statement, the Army noted the operation dealt a “decisive strategic blow to a notorious terrorist network linked to Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu,” reinforcing their commitment to national security.
