NIMC Unveils New Helpline to Improve Service Delivery

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced a new customer support helpline as part of efforts to improve service delivery and enhance user experience for Nigerians accessing identity management services.

According to the commission, the toll-free helpline — 0800 061 6462 — is designed to provide faster and more efficient responses to inquiries and complaints related to the National Identification Number (NIN). The line will attend to issues such as NIN enrolment, data modification, verification challenges and other general concerns from members of the public. NIMC said the initiative is aimed at reducing delays, improving communication with citizens and addressing long-standing complaints about difficulties in reaching the agency for assistance. The helpline is expected to operate during official working hours and complement existing digital support platforms. The commission noted that the move forms part of its broader reforms to modernise identity management services and strengthen public confidence in the national identity system. In recent months, NIMC has rolled out several measures, including improved digital tools and service frameworks, to streamline enrolment processes and enhance data security. Officials added that the new helpline will help decongest physical enrolment centres by resolving many issues remotely, while also ensuring quicker resolution of complaints.
