PSG Humble Marseille as Lens Shine; Tight Battles Continue

Matchday 21 of the Ligue 1 season delivered a mix of dominant performances, cagey draws and decisive moments, headlined by Paris Saint-Germain’s emphatic statement in Le Classique as the race for European places and survival intensified.

Paris Saint-Germain produced the standout performance of the weekend with a crushing 5–0 victory over rivals, Marseille. Ousmane Dembélé was the star of the show, scoring twice in the first half to set the tone for a one-sided contest.

Goals from Facundo Medina, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Kang-in Lee completed a ruthless display that underlined PSG’s attacking power and authority at the top end of the table.

The result further strengthens PSG’s position and sends a strong message to their title challengers.

Lens continued their impressive run with a commanding 3–1 home victory over Rennes. Odsonne Édouard opened the scoring before Aguilar added a goal and later saw red, while Saint-Maximin sealed the win late on. Despite Rennes scoring early through Estéban Lepaul, Lens maintained control and collected three important points in their push up the table.

Lyon secured a narrow but vital 1–0 away win against Nantes, with Pavel Šulc’s first-half strike proving decisive. Nantes’ task was made harder after Endrick was sent off in the second half, allowing Lyon to manage the game and walk away with all three points. Stade Brestois also enjoyed a positive outing, beating Lorient 2–0 at home.

Goals from Rémy Labeau Lascary and Ludovic Ajorque ensured a comfortable victory and reinforced Brest’s reputation as a difficult side to break down this season.

Several fixtures ended goalless, reflecting the tight margins across Ligue 1. Metz and Lille played out a 0–0 draw, while Nice and Monaco cancelled each other out in another stalemate. Auxerre and Paris FC also shared the spoils in a scoreless encounter, with defences on top throughout.

Angers snatched a dramatic 1–0 victory over Toulouse thanks to a late goal from Lilian Raolisoa in the 89th minute, a result that could prove crucial in their fight for points. Le Havre also celebrated a hard-fought 2–1 win over Strasbourg, with goals from Stephan Zagadou and Issa Soumaré sealing the result despite Strasbourg’s resistance.
