Vice President Shettima to Chair NEC Conference in Abuja
The Federal Government will this week convene a National Economic Council (NEC) Conference in Abuja, with Vice President Kashim Shettima set to chair the high-level meeting focused on strengthening economic coordination and promoting inclusive growth across Nigeria.
The two-day summit, scheduled to hold at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, is being convened by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
It is expected to bring together state governors, key national stakeholders, development partners and private-sector leaders.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President.
The conference is themed “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan.” Discussions will centre on macroeconomic priorities, fiscal coordination, investment mobilisation and collaborative development strategies between the federal and state governments.
According to Dr Deborah Oko Odo, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and Secretary of the NEC, the summit aims to encourage broad-based economic growth and provide policy direction aligned with the Federal Government’s long-term economic agenda.
She added that the conference would serve as a platform for aligning national and subnational development priorities to accelerate sustainable development across the country.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to attend the conference as Special Guest of Honour, in line with the administration’s ongoing economic reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The NEC Conference is expected to produce actionable strategies to deepen economic cooperation among the tiers of government and fast-track inclusive growth nationwide.
