Nigerian Army Crackdown on Criminal Hideouts in Lagos

The 9th Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ikeja, has embarked on a mission to rid Oshodi and Mushin areas of Lagos State of violent crimes.
Under the leadership of Brig Gen Matthew Oyekola, the Brigade conducted operations in collaboration with local vigilantes and Man-O-War officers to target criminal hideouts.
This development follows Brig Gen Oyekola’s pledge to the Lagos State House of Assembly in September 2024 to ensure the state is free from all forms of criminal activities. The army’s efforts have led to the arrest of several hoodlums who engage in illicit activities, including armed robbery, and have been handed over to the relevant authorities for prosecution.
In a bid to strengthen its partnership with Man-O-War Nigeria, the 9 Brigade donated an operational vehicle to the Lagos State Command. Brig Gen Oyekola stated that the refurbished vehicle would enhance the organization’s information-gathering and sharing capacity, ultimately supporting the Brigade’s operations in Lagos State.
The Man-O-War Commander, Lagos State Command, Engineer Lucky Onimowo, has assured that the command will utilize the vehicle effectively to provide actionable intelligence to the 9 Brigade. This collaboration is expected to significantly boost security efforts in the state, ensuring a safer environment for law-abiding residents.
The Nigerian Army’s crackdown on criminal hideouts in Lagos is a testament to its commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state. As the security situation continues to evolve, the 9 Brigade’s efforts will likely play a crucial role in shaping the security landscape in Lagos State.
