Atiku, Aisha Buhari Meet in Saudi Arabia During Lesser Hajj

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has met with the widow of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, in Saudi Arabia.

Atiku confirmed the meeting in a post shared on his official X account on Friday, stating that he received the former First Lady, her daughter Hanan, and other members of the Buhari family during their stay in the Kingdom.

He said both families are in Saudi Arabia to perform the lesser hajj, also known as Umrah.

According to Atiku, the visit was a personal and cordial interaction centred on religious observance.

The Umrah pilgrimage is commonly undertaken by Muslims for prayers and spiritual reflection, particularly during periods of mourning.

The meeting has drawn public attention due to the political prominence of both families, although it was described as a private encounter unrelated to political matters.

It marked Mrs Buhari’s first publicly known visit to Saudi Arabia since the death of her husband, former President Muhammadu Buhari, in 2025.
