President Bola Tinubu met Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the State House following the massacre of over 160 people by terrorists in Kaiama, Kwara State.
The President offered condolences to the families affected by the tragedy in Woro and Nuku villages.
To restore order, Tinubu announced the deployment of an army battalion for “Operation Savannah Shield.” This mission aims to flush out insurgents from forest areas after they targeted locals for resisting forceful indoctrination.
The President condemned the “cowardly” burning of homes and palaces, vowing that Nigeria would not become a sanctuary for violent extremists.
He remains committed to protecting citizens from those seeking to impose radical ideologies through force.
Tinubu praised the villagers’ bravery for refusing to submit to the militants’ demands. He noted that their resilience in the face of such brutality demonstrated a profound commitment to peace and national unity.
Recognizing their moral stand, the President stated: “It’s commendable that the community members, even though Muslims, refused to be conscripted into a weird belief that promoted violence over peace and dialogue.”
Finally, Tinubu promised federal support for rebuilding efforts and urged security agencies to bring the killers to justice. He concluded by praying for the victims and the swift recovery of the wounded.
