Ex-gov Candidate, Nwosu Dismisses Defection Rumours, Reaffirms APC Membership
A former governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, has dismissed rumours circulating on social media alleging that he has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), reaffirming his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Nwosu put the speculation to rest on Sunday when he revalidated his APC membership during the party’s ongoing nationwide electronic registration exercise in his ward, Eziama Obaire, Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.
Addressing party faithful and community members at the event, the former governorship candidate described the defection rumours as false and misleading, insisting that he remains firmly rooted in the APC.
According to him, he is a founding member of the APC and has no intention of leaving a party he helped to establish.
“I remain a committed member of the All Progressives Congress. I will not abandon a house I helped to build. I have no plan whatsoever to defect to the African Democratic Congress,” Nwosu said.
He urged party members to disregard unverified reports on social media, stressing that his political allegiance remains unchanged.
Nwosu’s clarification comes amid growing political realignments and speculation ahead of future electoral contests in the state, with several prominent politicians being linked to possible defections across party lines.
Party supporters present at the revalidation exercise welcomed his reaffirmation, describing it as a boost to the APC’s unity and strength in Nkwerre and the wider Imo political landscape.
