Tragedy as Toddler’s Remains Found in Kano Well

The Kano State Fire Service has successfully recovered the body of a three-year-old boy, Abdura’uf Badamasi, who had gone missing in Wangara Village, located within the Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The incident was confirmed by the Director of the Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, through a statement released on Saturday by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi.

The agency first became aware of the situation after receiving a distress call from a resident named Dan Asabe Rabiu on Friday morning at approximately 7:50 am, reporting that the young boy could not be found.

Upon receiving the report, a rescue team from the agency’s headquarters was immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate the disappearance and begin search operations.

It was gathered that the child had been missing since Thursday evening; his parents feared the worst, suspecting that he might have accidentally fallen into a well within the vicinity.

Firefighters promptly entered the well to conduct a rescue, and while they managed to pull the child out, he was unfortunately unconscious and later confirmed dead.

Following the recovery, the victim was handed over to the Ward Head of Wangara Village for burial.

Reflecting on the tragedy, the service stated: “The Kano State Fire Service expresses deep condolences to the bereaved family and urges the residents to cover open wells and take adequate measures around other hazardous areas, particularly to safeguard children.”
