Governor Uba Sani Creates 5,000 Jobs to Strengthen Sanitation

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has launched a major environmental sanitation initiative aimed at improving waste management while tackling unemployment across the state.

The programme has created 5,000 jobs, primarily targeting youths and women, to support sanitation operations in key urban communities Dubbed Operation TSAFTA, the initiative is equipped with sanitation infrastructure including Roro bins, dustbins, water tankers, and safety equipment to ensure efficient and professional waste management. Governor Sani announced that an additional 7,000 jobs would be created in the coming months as the programme expands to more areas The initial phase of Operation TSAFTA focuses on four local government areas facing significant environmental pressure due to urban growth and commercial activity. The governor emphasized that a clean environment is critical for public health, economic productivity, and social stability. Officials stated that the programme will engage private sector partners and competent cleaning firms to ensure professionalised services and long-term sustainability. Local government councils, the Ministry for Local Government Affairs, and the Ministry of Environment are collaborating to ensure effective implementation. Governor Sani highlighted that the sanitation programme is part of a broader strategy linking job creation with environmental responsibility, providing lawful and productive opportunities for residents while enhancing public services.
