Okowa, Oborevwori, Delta Cabinet Cross Over to APC

Former governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa and the current Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and all members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Senator James Manager, a prominent PDP stalwart, at a press conference held at the Government House in Asaba, the state capital.

The meeting, which lasted over six hours, was attended by key stakeholders and party leaders, who unanimously agreed to join the APC.

According to sources, the entire structure of the PDP in Delta State, including the Deputy Governor and all political appointees, have followed suit, leaving the party in disarray. The mass defection is seen as a significant blow to the PDP’s chances in the state, ahead of future elections.

While the official reasons behind the defection are yet to be disclosed, insiders claim that the decision was motivated by a desire to align with the ruling party at the federal level, as well as dissatisfaction with the leadership of the PDP.

“We have decided to join the APC to contribute our quota to the development of our state and the country at large,” Senator Manager said in a statement. “We are confident that our decision will bring about positive change and prosperity to our people.”

The defection is expected to have far-reaching implications for the political landscape of Delta State, and is likely to send shockwaves throughout the PDP. The party’s national leadership has yet to comment on the development, but sources indicate that they are working to contain the fallout and prevent further defections.

As the news of the defection spreads, residents of Delta State are reacting with mixed emotions. While some have expressed support for the decision, others have criticized the move, citing concerns about the implications for the state’s development.

As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is certain – the political landscape of Delta State will never be the same again. The question on everyone’s lips is – what next? Will the PDP be able to recover from this blow, or will the APC capitalize on the momentum to dominate the state’s politics? Only time will tell.
