Bauchi Govt Rebuilds NYSC Camp Fence, Pledges More Facilities

The Bauchi State Government has rebuilt the collapsed perimeter fence of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in the state, easing security concerns at the facility.

The State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr Umoren Kufre, disclosed this on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 corps members at the orientation camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.

Kufre commended Governor Bala Mohammed for the prompt reconstruction of the damaged sections of the camp’s fence, describing the earlier collapse as a major security threat to corps members and the entire camp community.

“We remain grateful to him for the complete renovation of corps members’ hostels and the construction of a brand-new multipurpose hall in the camp,” Kufre said.
“We also appreciate his intervention in rebuilding the broken parts of the camp’s perimeter fence, which had been a security threat to members of the camp community.

You will recall that this had been a nightmare for us because that portion of the camp was porous and could have allowed possible invasion.”

He added that the intervention had significantly improved safety and living conditions for corps members.

In his remarks, Governor Mohammed reaffirmed that the primary objective of the NYSC scheme was to promote national unity and integration, noting that its philosophy and programmes were designed to enhance the physical, psychological, mental and intellectual development of Nigerian youths.

He urged corps members to take full advantage of the orientation exercise and justify the confidence reposed in them by the nation.

The governor also pledged to construct staff accommodation, a clinic and other essential facilities at the camp, assuring that his administration would continue to provide the necessary support to ensure the comfort and safety of corps members and officials.

“May I further assure the management of the scheme in the state that we will not fail in our statutory responsibilities to the scheme, in addition to assisting where and when necessary,” he said.

Our correspondent gathered that no fewer than 2,050 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 corps members were deployed to Bauchi State for the mandatory one-year national service.
