12–years Old Australian Boy Bitten by Shark Dies

12-year-old Australian boy, Nico Antic, has died after being bitten by a shark in Sydney Harbour.
He was attacked while swimming with friends in Vaucluse. His parents, Lorena and Juan, expressed deep sorrow, describing their son as a happy and spirited child.
The incident occurred while Nico was jumping from a six-metre rock into murky water caused by recent heavy rain.
Authorities believe these conditions contributed to the shark’s presence.
Despite rescue efforts, Nico’s injuries proved fatal after he was pulled from the water in critical condition.
Nico was rushed to the hospital with heavy bleeding but could not be saved.
His parents remembered him for his kind, generous spirit and love for life. The local community remains in mourning for the friendly and sporty young boy.
This tragedy was part of a sudden surge in shark activity, with four encounters recorded within 48 hours.
In response, officials temporarily closed dozens of beaches across Sydney. The spike in attacks has caused significant concern among residents and beachgoers.
This marks Sydney’s third recent shark-related fatality. Previous attacks involved a great white shark killing a surfer in September and a fatal bull shark encounter in November.
These recurring incidents have intensified debates over beach safety and shark management.
Scientists suggest environmental factors, such as rising ocean temperatures and shifting migration patterns, are bringing sharks closer to shore.
Additionally, recent storm runoff into the harbour created high-risk conditions for swimmers.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched to support Nico’s family, receiving significant public donations. As the city mourns, local authorities continue to monitor the waters and urge swimmers to exercise extreme caution in the harbour.
